trauma-informed, body-first

Your nervous system isn't broken — it's doing its job

Root & Rib is somatic therapy for people whose bodies kept talking long after the talking cure stopped working — nervous system regulation, felt-sense work, and slow, consent-led touch when it's clinically appropriate.

how sessions work

Three ways in

Start with a free consult, settle into weekly sessions, or add touch work when it's the right next step.

Somatic Touch Session

Dana Voss, LCSW, SEP

Dana spent nine years as a trauma-focused talk therapist before training in Somatic Experiencing — after watching client after client "know" something in their head that their body hadn't caught up to yet.

Root & Rib treats the nervous system as the client, not an obstacle to talk around.

Questions people ask first

Is somatic therapy a replacement for talk therapy?

Not necessarily — many clients do both. Somatic work often moves what talk therapy alone couldn't reach; Dana will help you figure out what mix fits.

Do you offer touch-based sessions?

Yes, when clinically appropriate and only with explicit, ongoing consent. Many clients never do touch work at all — it's added only if and when it makes sense.

Do you take insurance?

Root & Rib is out-of-network; a superbill is provided for clients whose insurance reimburses out-of-network care.

What's your cancellation policy?
